In some parts of the world today, St. Valentine’s Day is celebrated. Thinking about pink hearts and red flowers inevitably leads me to think of royal millinery inspired by this holiday.

None of these hats, however, can top the heart-shaped spectacle that Princess Camilla, The Duchess of Castro (née Camilla Crocciani) wore to the wedding of Prince Albert of Monaco and Charlene Wittstock on July 2, 2011. This is a whole lotta pink-hearted hat love (ironically, at a wedding rife with rumors that the bride was trying to run away). It seldom happens but I think this hat puts me at a total loss for words.

Which one of these Valentine’s inspired hats is your favourite?

princess barbie ROCKS!
The Duchess of Castro always wears something that belongs on a Brazilian soap opera so this is really no surprise.
Princess Maxima’s hat is SO innapropriate for a goverment meeting (this was the retirement of a respected Vice President). It is so disrespectful to go to a party honoring someone else wearing a hat that screams “LOOK AT ME! LOOK AT ME!”. Funny for today’s themed post maybe, but not funny on the actual day she wore this hat.
I liked Princess Letizia’s hat the best. Her hat and dress are beautiful.
We don’t often see Letizia in a hat but she looked great here.
LOL! too funny. Love the heart shaped ones.
They are very fun and amusing, aren’t they?!
The Best one is Princess Haya. I’d never think to put a pink hat with a peach coat but for some reason, it’s really nice.
When I first saw this hat during Ascot last year, I thought it was jaw-droppingly beautiful on her, too.
The hat of Princess Máxima is a wonderful stylization of flower petals. This is my favourite.
I hadn’t thought of Maxima’s hat as a stylized flower- that makes it even more of a Valentine’s hat!
