Finnish President Sauli Niinistö (and his wife, Jenni Haukio) arrived in Norway for a state visit today. As per protocol, the Norwegian Royals greeted them in full-hatted splendor.
I’m sorry to write this but in my humble opinion, Queen Sonja’s hat looks like some sort of military uniform from the planet Vulcan. And that is NOT a good thing.
Crown Princess Mette-Marit’s calot ,designed by Mona Strand, is not working for me, either. I just don’t like the placement so far on the back of her head.
That leaves Mrs. Haukio. I am usually a fan of feathered fascinators and when I first saw it from a distance (first photo above), I liked it. Upon a closeup view, however, it seems too twee for a First Lady. I’m afraid I’m going to do the unthinkable and pass on all three hats today! Maybe tomorrow will be better. Sigh.
