The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall visited Exeter Cathedral in Devon on Tuesday (February 26) to attend a Service of Thanksgiving and see the restoration work to which the Prince is patron. Camilla wore a slouchy Lock & Co. designed faux- fur trimmed hat we’ve seen (in my opinion) too many times before.
I’ve been staring at this image all morning trying to figure out what bugs me so much about this hat. I even pulled up some of the other times Camilla has worn this hat in the hope I could figure out what I don’t like about it.

And then it finally hit me. See the resemblance?!

February seems to be the official month of royal winter holidays and the Swedish Royal Family have joined in on the fun. King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia were seen last week at the renowned mountain resort Klosters in Switzerland (where Prince Charles is also a regular guest). Silvia was spotted popping into a grocery store in this fur hat.
The family has now moved on to Cavalese, Val di Fiemme, Italy to attend the 2013 FIS Nordic Skiing World Championships. King Carl Gustaf looked relaxed as he shared a joke with Swedish skier Emil Jonsson before the start of the men”s relay Cross Country competition today. The king is wearing the same brown leather trilby worn last week in Klosters and I think it’s a great hat on him.
Crown Princess Victoria, Prince Daniel and little Princess Estelle also arrived this week in Italy for Nordic Skiing World Championships. On Tuesday, they cheered on Swedish skiers; Estelle repeated her cable knit white hat and charmed the crowds. I think we have a future hat star in this kid. Adorable, isn’t she?

The results are in from this month’s poll and by a landslide, you chose Princess Mathilde of Belgium as the best wearer of this veiled fez hat.
It seems that a month is too long to keep a poll open so we’re going change things up for March with two two-week polls. Stay tuned Friday for the first one.

Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands attended the 150th anniversary of Bronbeek (part of the Dutch Ministry of Defense) in Arnhem today. For this visit to the Royal Home for Old Soldiers and the Bronbeek Museum, she repeated this straw hat in warm shades of mocha brown (seen last month on her trip to Singapore). While I still prefer Beatrix in brighter coloured headgear, the jaunty diagonal upturned brim and soft ombre colour make this a stylish hat in my books. What do you think?

Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, The Duke of Edinburgh, opened the new Royal London Hospital in London today. After opening the hospital, they visited the The National Centre for Bowel Research and Surgical Innovation. The Queen wore a lilac pleated Angela Kelly designed hat and coat we’ve seen several times before (at Sandringham in early January and at three events last year). This hat just doesn’t do it for me- I find the crown shape is a little too Dr. Seuss while at the same time, the muted colour and the pleats are a little boring. The Queen obviously loves it since this is its fifth wearing in less than a year. So I ask you, dear hat fans- what do you think of this one?

Thirty years ago today, Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip toured a naval dockyard in San Diego during their visit to California. The Queen wore this nautically-themed suit and captain’s hat – an unusual hat shape for her. It’s a little too theme-y for me, although theme-y was pretty common in early 1980s fashion. For some reason, the whole ensemble reminds me of a Pearly Queen!

Prince Albert and Princess Charlene attended the Six Nations rugby match between England and France at Twickenham Stadium in England yesterday. Charlene kept warm in a black knit hat. As far as knit hats go, I think this one is as chic as they get (that’s more likely to do with her tan than the hat!).
