Swedish Royals Celebrate Historic Ordination

On Sunday, King Carl Gustaf, Queen Silvia and Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden attended the ordination of Archbishop Antje Jackeléns, the fist female archbishop in Sweden, at Uppsala Cathedral. For this historic occasion, Queen Silvia wore a cream straw lampshade style hat with a side bloom. It is another traditional hat for the Swedish queen but paired with her beautiful pink coat, created such a pretty ensemble.

Crown Princess Victoria wore a black picture hat with a sweeping brim and simple white band around the crown. It is a rather austere picture hat as far as they go but it worked so well with Victoria’s clean-lined white dress.

  1. Bishop Antje Jackelén was inaugurated as Archbishop of Sweden, and as such she is the first female Archbishop. Sweden has had female bishops for 40 years and prior to becoming Archbishop, she was Bishop of Lund Diocese. The ceremony was grand.
I like Queen Silvia’s hat very much but found CP Victoria’s crown too small making her head look egg shaped. The brim is too wide. In church, when looking down into the program, her face was entirely hidden.

  2. Not sure about the hat but I recognized Victoria’s dress immediately. It is from LK Bennett, Detriot Notch Collar. Kate wore it in blue. I really love the black & white ensemble.
