Zara Phillips at Goodwood Races

Zara Phillips attended Ladies’ Day at the Goodwood Racecourse in Chichester today. To watch her grandmother Queen Elizabeth’s horse ‘Estimate’ run in the Artemis Goodwood Cup, Zara wore a cream straw percher disk hat trimmed with a large trailing straw bow. It is a relatively simple hat that coordinated well with her classic black and cream ensemble and I thought it suited her very well. I just wish she would have added some small earrings to complete the look. What do you think of this new hat?

Belated Birthday of the Duchess of Cornwall

Royal HatsBack on July 17, the Duchess of Cornwall celebrated her 67th birthday. Choosing a hat for her was an incredibly difficult task because her millinery collaboration with Philip Treacy is so wonderful. Camilla looks amazing in Treacy’s large brimmed hats and she carries off his characteristically dramatic embellishments with aplomb. For summer, Camilla usually chooses hats in neutral or pastel hues and I would love to see her wear some more vibrant colours. This straw hat, by Rachel Trevor Morgan, carries some of the scale and dramatic trim that Camilla wears so well, in a colour that would be brilliant on her.

Queen Margrethe Opens Prison Church

On Monday, Queen Margrethe of Denmark visited the State Prison Renbæk in Skærbæk to officially open the prison’s new church. She repeated her white straw hat with rolled brim, trimmed with white and red polka dot sash to match her dress (not visible in today’s photos, this hat also features a side spray of red and white folded straw circle flowers). On its own, this hat might be a little boring but paired with Margrethe’s vibrant polka dot shirtwaist dress, I think it works very well.

One Hat, Four Vibrant Dresses

Royal Hats Earlier this summer, Queen Máxima of the Netherlands débuted a spectacular burgundy picture hat with square crown and large mushroom shaped brim trimmed in wide grosgrain ribbon. So far, she has paired this hat, designed by Belgian milliner Fabienne Delvigne, with three ensembles to create distinctly different looks. Which outfit do you think works best with this dramatic hat?

Autumn Phillips At Ascot Racecourse

Princess Anne’s daughter-in-law, Autumn Phillips, attended the King George Day Meet at Ascot Racecourse on Saturday. She wore a lovely percher disk hat in pale blue straw which was trimmed with curling feathers and a large silk bloom. There is a lot going on with this little hat but I think it works beautifully in this muted colour and paired with Autumn’s structured sheath dress. It’s a fun piece of millinery she wears quite well, don’t you think?
