Queen Margrethe Opens Exhibition

Queen Margrethe of Denmark opened an exhibition today at the Nationalhistoriske Museum in Hillerød on the separation of Denmark and Norway, 200 years ago. For this opening, Margrethe repeated her red straw textured hat. While there’s nothing new to say about this hat (we have seen it many times before), I do give Queen Margrethe bonus points for dressing in the colours of the Danish and Norwegian flags.

  1. Whether you like or loathe the way that Daisy Dane dresses, you have to admit that she is an original! She dresses to please herself, and judging by the frequent repeats,I suspect she is very pleased. I like that attitude a lot. She is a very interesting lady, and she seems so refreshingly normal. Nothing on her ever looks overdone. She looks like everyone’s mom, and does not look overly done up. She looks just like we might if we were running late: we would go to something that we like that is comfortable and that we like. That very normalcy is refreshing and bracing. Some of the other royal ladies have a very studied normalcy to their look, but Margrethe doesn’t have to try. She is what she is, and if you like it fine. If you don’t like, she’s equally fine with that. Kinda feisty, but highly enjoyable.

    • That is the most *Beautiful* comment I have ever read regarding any royal lady and what you said is so true. I remember reading an article many decades ago where she used to ride a bike in Copenhagen among the people and stopped and talked to them, this is one royal queen that is very special, I so like her attitude of take me as I am or leave, and just goes on with her life. I also love the way she dresses, sometimes it’s not for me, but it’s what is what she wants and is comfortable with, so be it. Great insight!

      • Everything I wanted to say has been summed up by the comments made by jamiemid, Jamie and elizabethmclaughline42. I am a big fan of Queen Margrethe, and I want this hat!
