Designer Updates

Royal Hats A few designer updates to kick off this week:

Crown Princess Victoria’s butterfly headpiece worn last week for the opening of Swedish Parliament was from Malinda Damgaard.

Queen Máxima’s floral headpiece for Prinsjesdag last week is confirmed to be the work of Jan Taminiau, who also designed her exquisite gown.

The hat worn by Princess Caroline of Hanover and Monaco back in May to the christening of her niece and nephew is a handmade, fair trade piece made of raffia by the Madagascar Hat Company.

  1. The fair trade hat looks so much better on the head than in the picture by itself! I wouldn’t have been interested in it from just seeing the photo on a website. The color is pretty but it’s hard to get a sense of its structure and how it frames the face without seeing it in action.

  2. Raffia it may well be but the hat in the picture is not crocheted. The fibers are woven. The crocheted hats seem much more casual to me.

  3. I thought Crown Princess Victoria’s headpiece was rather twee. I did love Queen Máxima’s floral headpiece and I thought it complimented her gown very well. I liked Princess Caroline of Hanover and Monaco’s hat and outfit. It is good that she supports Fair Trade too!
