This Week’s Extras

Royal Hats

So excited to learn that an exhibition of Princess Beatrix’s hats will open at Het Loo Palace in February 2017. I’m thinking a Royal Hats field trip may be in order… (Het Loo Palace)

Last weekend, Empress Michiko wore a white saucer hat for a meeting with King Carl Gustaf (Imperial Family of Japan)

Princess Madeleine held the ultimate tea party for 12 seriously ill children this week (Min Stora Dag Charity). Check out photos of the event over here (Royal Order of Sartorial Splendour)

Adorable photos of Princess Estelle released for her fourth birthday this week (Swedish Royal Court). Princess Lenore also chimed in to offer her cousin her best wishes (Princess Madeleine Facebook)

The Dutch royal family were photographed on their annual skiing trip to Austria. Those princesses certainly are growing up!

  1. What a shame for the Dutch Royal Family that one of them has had another bad accident on their skiing holiday. Princess Alexia was flown to hospital after her skiing accident and is undergoing surgery for a fracture in the right upper leg. I hope she makes a good recovery. In 2012 Prince Friso, the son of then-Queen Beatrix, was hit by an avalanche, and sustained a head injury that resulted in his death after 18 months in a coma.

Princess Estelle and Princess Leonore look so sweet in their little pink hair bows and obviously get on well. I hope that Princess Estelle has a Happy Birthday. Princess Michiko’s white saucer hat looks like a new one to me, but then she has worn quite a few white saucers and it’s not a great photograph. Princess Madeleine was kind to allow those sick children a chance to spend a day with a real Princess at the Palace. There are more photographs at the Order of Splendour BlogSpot.

    • Thanks for the update regarding Princess Alexia’s accident. I have had a few skiing accidents too but fortunately never broken any bones or had any head injuries. Get well soon Princess!

  2. Somewhat bad news for the Dutch royals – Princess Alexia broke her leg while skiing! And this, people is why I *DON’T* ski!

  3. Thanks again HatQueen for providing us with the latest Royal news. That exhibition of Princess Beatrix’s hats will be one very big exhibition! I hope they feature it online too for those of us a long way away. How generous of Princess Madeleine to hold that tea party. She looks beautiful in the Swedish Aquamarine Kokoshnik Tiara, which is one of my favorites. Happy Birthday to Princess Estelle! She and Princess Leonore are such cutie pies! The Dutch Royals look like they are having a great time on their holidays. Those Princesses are very pretty and growing up fast.
