Danish Royals Take Up Summer Residence

On Monday, Queen Margrethe and Prince Henrik arrived in Aarhus on the royal yacht en route to their summer residence at Marselisborg Palace. Queen Margrethe repeated her fuchsia straw hat with white rosette trim and and navy floral double hat band. I can’t help also noticing that Prince Henrik sported a new but very distinguished looking goatee.

We have seen this hat on Margrethe a few times but it’s still a lovely one on her, don’t you agree?

  1. I like the hat and the colour is good, but I think it is time to retire this one because we have seen it so often.

    • Retire a hat after wearing it just 4 times? I don’t agree (in fact, I think it’s wasteful and irresponsible). Yes, I have advocated for hats to be retired but not after four outings, unless there is something really wrong with them. It would be great if Queen Margrethe took on her daughter-in-law’s mix and match approach to fashion but that’s hardly going to happen. She’s shown us for years and years that her approach to fashion is a practical (and vibrant!) one and while it’s not terribly exciting, I admire that she gets much wear from her things before letting them go.

  2. Still like the hat! And like the goatee! Usually I am opposed to extra facial hair, but this look suits Prince Henrik!

  3. Agree — quite lovely on her – the blue in this pink shade is becoming on her – she has sooo much blue in her skin tone that many shades don’t work well on her.
