With a busy royal programme of parliament openings, state visits and domestic engagements this fall, I have neglected to keep up with our countdown of favourite hats this year. With my apologies, dearest readers, this needs to be rectified! We’re going to start this catch up with a jump back to choose our favourite hats worn in September. Based on your comments, there were five repeated royal millinery designs that were met with particularly high praise.
Click on any of the photos below to jump back to original posts with additional photos and information on each hat. Here are the five finalists, in the order they were worn:
Crown Princess Mary’s natural straw beret with bow trim by Susanne Juul worn for Flag Day, Sep 5
Queen Margrethe’s red straw hat worn in Favrskov on Sep 7 during her annual summer cruise
Queen Maxima’s Fabienne Delvigne designed coffee coloured straw upswept brim ‘slice’ hat worn Sep 14
Queen Máxima’s larger and lighter natural straw upswept brim ‘slice’ hat by Fabienne Delvigne for Prinsjesdag Sep 20
Empress Michiko’s blue and gold saucer hat worn Sep 28 on a visit to Iwate Prefecture
Voting will remain open until next Sunday, November 27 at midnight GMT and each computer or mobile device may vote once per day for as many hats as you like. Results will remain hidden until the poll closes. Happy voting!
