This Week’s Extras

Royal Hats

Queen Mathilde sported an informal straw fedora during her Unicef mission to Laos this week. The shape and scale of a fedora is great on her, right?

Princess Kiko and Princess Mako visited the Kasuga Taisha Shrine in Nara on Monday. Both princesses wore sedate beige pillbox hats with bows at the back. (Sankei)

The Duchess of Cornwall took advantage of Storm Doris this week, keeping warm in her trusty faux fur trimmed tweed hat from Lock and Co. One reader mentioned on twitter that this hat is far better suited to a ski outing like this than a formal engagement and I’m inclined to agree.

Take care in the snow today. #StormDoris

Sweet photos released this week by the Swedish Court for Princess Leonore’s third birthday and Princess Estelle’s fifth birthday. Leonore’s bowed hair band is from Livly.

More crin winged creature headpieces by Stephen Jones for Dior here, here, here and here along with an opulent ostrich tiara here. These beautifully made (albeit avant garde) pieces are certainly worth a look.

A new exhibition, “Diana:Her Fashion Story” opened yesterday at Kensington Palace. I’m hoping that those of you in London who manage to take it in will share your experience and tell the rest of us what hats are included!

  1. Hi HQ, I have read that although the photo of Camilla was shared publicly this week, it was used on the Cornwalls’ 2010 Christmas card so is *not* a shot of her outdoors during or after Storm Doris. Thanks so much for all the hard work you do in keeping us up-to-date with royal chapeaux from around the globe. xx
