  1. I like this hat on Princess Anne, not so sure about the dress it seems to blur into nothing. My goodness in these pictures she looks more and more like her great-aunt who preceded her as Princess Royal and her great-grandmother Queen Mary

  2. Nice brim. I would like to see Anne in a hat that is more of a statement, with a more angular crown, and a simple, defined trim like a stiff bow.

  3. Nice to see this hat in more detail. The color isn’t very exciting, but it’s a nice shape for Anne, and I like the apricot color of her dress, which draws out the apricot-colored spiral quill in her hat.

  4. Lovely light hat and perfect for the weather. The dress is not quite as wonderful but the Princess always is so no discussion required.

  5. This is a nice hat on Anne and given the color of her dress I thought she would have hauled out the hat with the feathers on the underbrim which probably would have looked ok, but too wintery for Ascot. So I’m glad she chose this one. Love the pic of her and Zara. As for the first photo, which Jimbo pointed out, WHOSE hand is that? And how tall are they? LOL

  6. Apart from the hat that brought such raves that Princess Anne wore in Canada last year, I think this once comes close to a winner for her.

  7. This is a good hat. But for some reason I found myself thinking that pheasant feathers would have gone nicely with this color dress😉.

  8. This is a great hat for the Princess Royal and is coordinated very well with her outfit. I’m sure we’ll see it for decades!

  9. A nice outfit that the long gloves partly wreck, but I suppose there’s a dress code, otherwise why would almost all the royal women (Eugenie bucks the trend) have long sleeves on a hot day? And Anne would be able to ditch the gloves when she got to the Royal box so, as always, she’s being practical. The hat suits her and I’m looking forward to seeing more of Zara’s hat. What a nice moment they’re sharing.

  10. This is a great hat for Anne. I didn’t realize that was Zara until Shanon pointed that out…that means we have another post to look forward to!

  11. The dress is a bit frumpy, but I like Princess Anne’s hat and the overall appearance of the outfit. Of course, if one were to see the three photographs of Princess Anne alone, one might not be able to identify the decade of the photographs.

    • I agree with you, Snug Harbor. The first picture shows someone trying to snatch the hat clean off the royal head! I love it!

  12. The Princess Royal looks lovely in that hat, but I wonder (as I did with Princess Beatrice) about the long sleeves and long gloves. She must have been very warm. But then, Her Majesty is wearing a coat, as usual. Perhaps they don’t feel the heat as the rest of us do!
