Royal Ascot 2017 Day 3: Earl & Countess of Snowdon

  1. If this hat isn’t Stephen Jones, I’ll eat my hat! (haha, I actually won’t, but couldn’t resist the opportunity to use that phrase) It’s a very nice hat for Serena and the feathers keep it from being boring or looking too much like her sister-in-law’s hats. I do wish her jacket was more like a blazer instead of this bolero because the black piping looks very odd here.

David’s top hat is definitely one of my favorites because of the way the brim swoops up and down and around so elegantly.

  2. Love this hat a lot. The colours are fresh and flattering, the basketweave adds interest and the shape looks great with her short hair. The size is just right for her and the pearl earrings and necklace finish it off well. I’d like to wear this hat myself!
I agree with Lesley, Sandra and Dalia-Jun about the dress.

  3. Love the hat, not so keen on the dress and shrug. I found Serena’s unsmiling photos from her previous appearance at Ascot to be rather unlike her. Possibly I’m reading too much into it, but she doesn’t look top notch at the moment. Agree with Lesley about the fit of the dress, and the blue piping round the arms of the shrug cuts the outfit into odd-looking sections.

  4. The hat is stunningly beautiful. But the outfit simply does not fit. The blue piping round the sleeves/bolero make her look very round-shouldered. The gathering of material underneath the bust and the skirt length/style makes her look distinctly matronly. This retro styling that she’s been wearing for some considerable time needs overhauling – because on this showing and the other day it’s not working. Chic retro I could understand but not this dowdy styling.

  5. The Countess’s hat is very nice – and appears to be the same hat (in a different material) that her sister-in-law Sarah Chatto has in several colors. A family-favorite shape, for sure.

  6. She looks lovely – it’s a very chic outfit.

Can’t for the life of me think where she got the inspiration for that hat though… 😜
